From One Friend To Another

Postby DeaconSteve on Fri Dec 02, 2005 2:10 pm

I want to wish you a happy day -
for you deserve the best,
you bring out all the joy in me,
because our friendship is no less.

You seem to always give a smile -
when I’m inclined to frown,
you always know just what to say,
whenever you’re around.

I wish you joy and happiness -
as you go about your day,
just sing a song or tell a joke,
and throw your worries away.

Just keep your head held up high -
and wish for happy things,
like sunshine and clear blue skies,
and all the birds that join to sing.

Feel the warmth of God’s great love -
He gives it so tenderly,
to friends who care and those who share,
just like you and me.

So as you go about your day -
making friends with others,
remember that I’m thinking of you,
from one friend to another!

Oh my friends, now don't get started. It's just a simple poem. I'm not in no contest here. I'm just writing them as they come. But, then, that's what you do also, isn't it? Love you all. Thank you for your kind words. Glad you like the poem. I hope each of you take it personally.

Debbie, I really believe that what I write is inspired by God! But, I have to admit that when I was in formation to be ordained a Deacon, I had to take college courses on how to prepare and deliver homilies (sermons), and also poetry. I learn a lot of very good skills. You are a great poet yourself. I see a lot of poetry that I think, for the good of the poet, needs some sharppening up, but I won't say anything because I don't want to offend anyone. However, if someone were to ask me, I would give them a few basic tips that would turn their writing skills around. All that I do, I owe to the Master!

Thank you Shirley. I'm glad you like the poem. Just doing what I know how to do. I don't know how to do too many things outside of using a computer. God bless in all your writings.

Thank you so much Cookie. You are so sweet. Your poetry is also just as beautiful.

How about we make a joint effort, everyone submit what they consider to be some good tips to my our poetry even better. A community project. I'll start it by posting something in the Lounge. And they everyone can contribute or even ask questions and make comments. Would you like that? Look for it later, ok?
