My Nightly Prayer

My Nightly Prayer

I get down on my knees each night
And ask the Lord above
To keep me safe another day
And to fill my heart with love

To help me keep my promises
That I have made today
To remind me to thank those I should
And to be helpful along the way

I ask Him to watch over me
And those that I hold dear
To keep them warm and safe from harm
And to keep them in good cheer

I ask that He please help me
Keep my anger to a frown
I ask Him to give me a reason to smile
If I start feeling down

This is what I pray each night
Before I go to sleep
To help make me a better me
I pray my soul He'll keep
