LITTLE DOG THINKING
She sits upon the sofa, distant look in her eyes
What is it she is seeing that I don’t
A mystery it shall remain, I realize
Wish she could tell me but I know she won’t
There’s a barrier between us we can’t overcome
Right now we’re getting by with my loving hand
But there will always be those special moments
When she feels things that I just can’t understand
Yet when my heart is aching and my tears come falling
She comes to me, so young yet always there
Compassion in her makeup is her canine calling
She teaches us the simple way to care
My tears dry for her small tongue licks them far away
So much love she gives though she’s so small
I hope that one day I can find a way to say
How much she means to me, my heart and all
I stand around the corner peeking at her there
Sitting on the couch alone and staring into space
I love her, Patches is the Little Dog Thinking
And anything she does it is done with grace
