Picture I took of a female Hummingbird on my Blue-Black Salvia. She eventually brought 2 tiny ones back with her to enjoy the nectar

Hi there, and WELCOME!! I just love humming birds, and this is an awesome photo! I have some hummingbird vine growing on my fence with little red blooms and have seens some this year..not as many as in years past, tho. They are precious little creatures, and quite friendly. Thanks for sharing this with us!
God bless you always,
Pokey

Thanks. I love the little boogers. One grabbed and picked at my shirt last year when I got too close to "HIS" feeder. I don't guess he knew that I was just trying to re-fill it.

Aren't they just the most wonderous, wonderful litle things??
I am always amazed when I see one.
That God made something so tiny with so much energy.
Makes me think I can be a lot more than I am.

Yes, they are amazing, and so beautiful.
My dad taught me to sit very still with a little sugar water in a lid, near the Zinnias, at the back of the fish pond and they would come and drink the sugar water. The trick was to make the sugar water sweeter than the nectar of the flowers to attract them. The funny thing that most people never know about them is that when there is more than one, they fuss at each other and it sounds like newly hatched baby chickens "peeping" and when they fly around, they sound like bumble bees...and they WILL poke you with that beak! Doesn't hurt! LOL!
